Meet the Candidates
– Marie Shack –
Dear Stockholders,
My name is Marie Shack and I have decided to run for the Board of Directors at Island’s End Golf and Country Club. My husband, John, and I have been stockowners for many years and are always active in the club activities.
I believe that my experience as a teacher for over forty years, and as an Assistant Professor for Tufts University for their Art Education Master’s program provides me with the experience and organization skills to serve the club as an intelligent and dedicated board member.
I am active in both IEWGA and Wednesday leagues. I have also been involved in participating in the many golf tournament fund raisers that are held at the Club as well as the special dinners.
As a substitute teacher in Greenport and Southold, I am active in the community. I am also a volunteer for the Stonybrook/ Eastern Long Island Hospital golf tournaments and Galas and the Maritime Festival. My participation in these activities demonstrate my commitment to helping the community.
I hope that you will consider me as a person who will wholeheartedly make decisions that are best for the Club and its Members. I hope that you will vote, and do so for me. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Marie Shack

Dear Shareholders,
My name is John McCreary and I am running for a seat on the Board of Directors.
I have been a member of Island’s End since 1977 and director for six years. We had some lean years in the past and with the help of my fellow colleagues, we were able to cut expenses drastically and still provide a pleasurable golf experience at Island’s End. I was part of a team that secured a long term lease and preserve our property. Lately we have been experiencing some better years and I would like to be a part of the continuing prosperity while helping to direct the club. While we need to continue to improve the club, golf course and clubhouse we still need to be aware that keeping a reserve fund is just as important.
I am asking for your support and would be more than happy to answer any questions.
Thank you in advance
Sincerely,
John McCreary

Fellow Shareholders of Island’s End,
I’m asking for your support at the upcoming Island’s End Board elections.
I retired almost ten years ago from a career in global banking where I specialized in currency trading, research, and risk management. During my career, I worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Bank of America (in New York), and State Street Bank and Trust in Boston. After retiring, my wife and I relocated full time to Cutchogue. I have also served for the last four years on Golf Digest’s panel to evaluate the top 100, top 200 and best in state golf course in America.
Many of you see me out walking the course whether it’s a cold and windy forty degrees or ninety degrees and stifling. Island’s End has become my “second home” out on the North Fork. I’m passionate about my golf and I look to bringing that passion to ensure that Island’s End remains a successful publicly accessible golf course on the North Fork
With your support, I look forward to working with Board members and staff at Island’s End to ensure our Club’s future.
Kind regards,
Peter J Michaels

Dear Shareholders,
My name is Mark Levine and I am running for one of the open seats on the Island’s End Board. My wife Helen and I have been shareholders for over twenty years, and both of us have been active in the Club for much of that time.
I am a retired New York City Real Estate Attorney. Beginning over 5 years ago, with the then Members of the Clubs Board of Directors, we began to develop legal options to continue the Clubs operations. As many of you know, back then, the Club was experiencing financial fiscal problems. We began working with the Peconic Land Trust and Southhold Town to develop a strategy that not only allowed the property to be preserved as a golf course, but the transaction also provided the Club with a substantial amount of money that has been used over the past couple of years to make much needed capital improvements to the Clubhouse and the course.
I also continue to be a member of the Peconic Land Trust’s Project Development Committee and was recently appointed as a member of the Southhold Towns Housing Advisory Commission.
I am asking for your support because I believe I can continue to make a contribution to the Clubs future as a Member of the Board.
I hope you’ll support my candidacy.
Sincerely,
Mark Levine

Shareholders & Fellow Members
I’d like to put my name in the running for one of the upcoming board seats. I feel that I’m an ideal candidate for this position having been around the game of golf for almost 30 years in many different capacities. I attended Roanoke College on a scholarship playing on their golf team while studying accounting and marketing.
Throughout my time in high school and college I worked at various country clubs in many positions and am very familiar with how they operate on the business side. I’ve also been a member at several clubs Swansea CC, Botetourt Golf & Swim Club, Harmon Golf Club, South Shore Country Club, and now Island’s End. As a local small business owner, I am well versed in operating a successful business and all the financial management and responsibility that goes along with it. In addition to my golf course experience, I have operated and managed various food and beverage outlets from new business startups to well established chains. I feel that I would bring a fresh perspective, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude to the position.
Island’s End is a local gem with endless potential. I would love to be part of shaping its future and legacy. Thank you for your consideration.
